Lone Twin Theatre

Winters and Gregg Whelan, Lone Twin have been making performance
events since 1997. Across the world the company’s work is met with
critical and popular acclaim with a truly international audience
enjoying an ever-diverse range of works for stage, studio and
public space.

Workshop 10am –

Lone Twin’s internationally celebrated
practice operates through an expansive
relationship with
narrative elements, moving away from character and plot. This
workshop, given by members of the company, explores the various
approaches to narrative employed in the making of The catastrophe
trilogy which foregrounds ideas of storytelling and biography. This
session is aimed at actors, creative writers and artistic
directors.

Niamh Dowling & Marcin
Rudy - Movement into performance
Saturday 6th & Sunday 7th
February

Niamh Dowling is Head of School of
Theatre at Manchester Metropolitan University. She trained with
Monika Pagneux in Paris, and as a teacher of the Alexander
Technique. Niamh has worked extensively as a movement director and
teaches workshops internationally. Marcin Rudy is one of the key
actors of award winning Polish physical theatre company Teatr Pieśń
Kozla (Song of the Goat Theatre). He leads workshops
internationally and works as movement tutor at University of Essex
and Manchester Metropolitan University. This season is aimed at
actors, dancers, performers and directors.

Balletboyz – Michael Nunn,
William Trevitt and Freddie Opuku-Addaie

21st February

Introduced by internationally
acclaimed Michael Nunn and William Trevitt this weekend will be led
by Royal Opera House associate artist Freddie Opoku-Addaie who has
choreographed new work for Balletboyz’ The Talent. Freddie is one
of the most sought-after choreographers of the new generation of UK
dance artists. He has previously worked with companies such as
Candoco, Clod Ensemble, Rashpal Singh Bansal, Random Dance, Jonzi D
and Saburo Teshigawara, amongst others. Freddie participated in the
International choreographic research programme ChoreoRoam 09. His
work engages the audience through bold vision and visceral
emotions. Aimed at dancers and choreographers.

Simona Bertozzi
Friday 26th March 10am - 4pm
Simona is one of the rising stars of
the Italian dance scene and as part of her residency with Lîla
Dance at The Point, she will create a movement laboratory. The main
focus of the day will be the dialogue between action and memory,
and space and time, transforming pure movement into living images.
This practical intensive session in choreography and performance is
aimed at dancers, performers and artistic directors.

Wendy Houstoun
Saturday 24th & Sunday
25th April
10am - 4pm
Wendy Houstoun has worked extensively
as a solo performer and in collaboration with artists and companies
whose work challenges, enriches, and extends the boundaries of
dance and theatre. She experiments with ideas in her work, but
keeps her audience very much in mind. While her work challenges
preconceptions about movement, she communicates clearly and
humorously about our culture. This session is aimed at dancers,
actors, performers and choreographers.
