The Point’s creative associate
programme
In September 2006 The Point began a two year programme, funded
by Arts Council England South East, to support the creative and
organisational development of three companies. Our creative
associate programme will provide a range of opportunities for the
integrated dance company StopGAP,
the Israeli-born and UK based Hofesh
Shechter and the emerging Chichester-based company Lila Dance. These creative associates
will take part in a variety of interactions with The Point over the
two years, including choreographic projects with local youth
dancers and groups, teaching on summer schools and creating new
work for our two spaces.
The initiative marks the start of an exciting period of change
for The Point, with capital funding secured to convert the old
library behind the venue into a creation centre for contemporary
performing arts. The extended facilities will include a new studio
space, extra changing rooms, two meeting/ conference rooms, an
adaptable 50-seat studio theatre and a fully furnished
accommodation for artists and companies in residence.
The complete programme of work for the
creative associates was announced at The Point’s 10th
anniversary celebration on 22 September 2006 and is now regularly
updated on the web site.
