YPT up coming projects
New YPT Co-ordinator Louise Rickwood has now started at The
Point. Louise said ‘I’m really looking forward to working on
the many projects that are in the pipeline for The Point Young
People’s Theatre and I’m excited about the department’s
development.’
The Point Young People’s Theatre are currently
working on the following projects:
The weekly YPT workshops:
Engage
Both age groups are working with professional
practitioner Hayley Blakeway on ‘stage craft technique’ working on
voice projection and physicality. Hayley is a fantastic workshop
leader and were really happy to have her working with our Engage
YPT group.
Enhance
12-13s are currently
working on comedy and how to make comedy work on stage. The term
culminates in the Wisecrackers comedy competition 09 and the group
will be working with a professional comedian and YPT director
Christopher Gorry
14-15s
This term the group are exploring street
theatre and working professional theatre practitioner Katie Evett.
Look out for quirky characters at events this Spring/ Summer around
the Eastleigh Borough Area!
Enliven
This term the group are working on creating an
educational DVD on the theme of Climate change. The group is being
led by YPT director Christopher Gorry. A specially
commissioned film has been funded by the governments Tackling
Climate Change Beacon award which has been awarded to Eastleigh
Borough Council The group will explore, devise, shoot the film and
will work as a production team on every aspect of the process.
Gap Rep and the return of Little Hope
Taking a gap year in September 2009?
Then watch this space for fantastic
opportunities to work at The Point on a series of professional
productions, which are geared to build your experience and C.V. to
strengthen your application to drama school or university.
After the overwhelming success of last years
Little Hope schools tour, the YPT are reviving the production with
a new group of Gap Year Students.

Christmas 2009
A newly commissioned play especially for the
point young peoples theatre will be performed December 2009. After
the sell out success of last year’s The Lion, the Witch and the
Wardrobe, the YPT are back with The Point’s Christmas
show…
The title will be announced later this
year.
