The Tempest

March 2010

The Point Gap Rep Company has worked with two local schools to produce a contemporary version of Shakespeare’s compelling final play. The productions took place on the 11th and 12th of March at The Point and featured professional actors working alongside gap year students and pupils from Wyvern and Thornden schools. The 45 local school pupils worked with The Point’s drama development department to stretch their skills and apply what they learnt to a real professional production.

The Adventures of Pinnocchio

Decmeber 2009

Young actors from The Point’s Young Peoples Theatre performed the thrilling tale of the young puppet Pinocchio and the adventures he gets himself into as he tries to become a real boy. Performed by 80 local young people and watched by over 800 the production saw fairies, talking animals, naughty school children and a giant sea monster all brought to life using acting, movement and puppetry. With a beautiful design by Carl Davies and perfectly atmospheric music by Ben Occhipinti, all performed live by professional musicians, the production was a huge hit and fantastically received by parents and children alike.

'Absolutely wonderful -the combination of the two (Javier, Maria and Me and Lila Dance) was so good. I feel so strongly that the play and dance should be shown in other areas of the country where Niños were sent to live'
