Satellite Centre for Advanced Training programme (CAT)

The Point is very excited to have been chosen to be a Satellite Centre for Advanced Training, part of a network of national pre-vocational dance programmes funded by the Department for Children, Schools and , Music and Dance Scheme. Sponsored by The Place, London – home to the internationally renowned London Contemporary Dance School – The Point is one of only two satellite centres in the south east.

The project gives local dance enthusiasts with passion and commitment aged between 11-14 years the opportunity to take part in a free ten week intensive dance course led by Point creative associates, Lîla Dance. Following auditions in February the successful candidates are now taking part in weekly dance classes at The Point, and will also have the opportunity to attend taster sessions in London at The Place and Laban, as well as attending a professional performance in the region.

We had a successful audition and have selected 16 young dancers from in and around Hampshire to take part in the course.
